Take your time

 Find your nature

It’s time

Hippocampus takes place over the course of a year at Wholearth Farmstudio, an Ontario heritage farm with 100 acres as diverse as you are.

You’ll have an entire year to camp, grow, connect, reflect and regenerate. Create your own sanctuary midst rolling fields, wildlife, organic gardens, woodlands and spring-fed ponds..

This experience promises to be an inspirational blend of farm and natural environment for creative thinkers, friends, and friends of friends in a pop-up community to create and collaborate through self-directed retreats and life skills workshops.

Share the experience of stewarding an ecological farmstead, connection to the land and animals, grow your own heirloom vegetables, learn traditional skills, use the farm as your private sanctuary…whenever you wish.

“Tell me and I’ll forget,

Teach me and I may remember,

Involve me and I’ll Iearn.”

Benjamin Franklin

GROW

Eleven mini food forests will be established beside each of the eleven studio bunkies to be constructed this year.

Most heirloom seeds and plants are from the original parent crops in the main farmhouse garden, others from the abundant native species here.

CAMP

Create your own outdoor camping area in a secluded spot or near a small group of others in the forest or meadow.

There are unlimited spots throughout the property that are all beautiful locations, each with their own unique features.

CREATE

Calling all
life lovers,
beauty finders,
creative thinkers,
earth stewards,
music makers,

and vision shakers.

It’s time.

CONNECT

Biophilia is the innate human affinity for the natural world and living beings. Connecting with nature—whether through forests, animals, or the Earth itself—offers profound benefits for physical, emotional, and mental well-being. Time in natural environments enhances creativity, reduces stress, and promotes mental clarity.

Animal interactions foster empathy, while immersion in forests and green spaces lowers blood pressure and improves mood. This connection nurtures our health and deepens our understanding of the interconnectedness of all life, inspiring care and stewardship for our planet.

STUDIOS

For meetings and work indoors, the original farmhouse is becoming a shared space with three creative spaces (The Stonewall Studio, Storyboard Studio and the Fawn Studio) and a common kitchen. The farmhouse is equipped with good light, electricity, water, high speed internet and a charging station.
Part of the upper century barn is becoming a workshop for projects requiring power tools and more space, with a large gathering space and loft in the remainder .

FIND YOUR NATURE

Imagine your own special place in nature to get away to…

You’ll have a familiar, safe place to set up camp in the outdoors and return to at your chosen times throughout the year. If you are looking for a little more connection with the earth, this program may be for you.

Your personal experience at Hippocampus could be part retreat, sanctuary, playground, life-skills series, sabbatical, workbee, earth school and life conference combined with fellowship, relationships and stewardship.

Make it as social or as private as you design your time here.

Hippocampus fosters open spaces for creative exploration, shared community activities, focused work, artful play, quiet time with the animals, nature and our selves.

You can spread your time at the farm over the next year whenever suits your schedule.  Come on up on your preferred dates whenever you like, a relaxing weekend here, a ten day getaway there—you don’t have to use or decide them at once.

How does it work?

You’ll contribute some of your time to farm initiatives and environmental stewardship, the rest is all yours for your own projects. Use the greenhouse, grow food in the garden, learn skills and share knowledge with others, or head to a quiet studio for your own uninterrupted, focused work or play.
